Quick Set-up Guide 1 2 3 All three legs should be the same length to provide a level platform for the telescope. A bubble level is included (inset) to assist in leveling. 4 7 Hold the telescope fork arm and place the bottom of the base inside the tripod mounting platform as shown. Place accessory tray on top of center leg brace by lining up the grooves on the tray to the post on the brace. 5 Once grooves are aligned, turn accessory tray until it snaps into the clips on each leg brace. 6 Thread t
If you find that the ring pattern is skewed in a different direction, than simply repeat steps 2 through 6 as described above for the new direction. Perfect collimation will yield a star image very symmetrical just inside and outside of focus. In addition, perfect collimation delivers the optimal optical performance specifications that your telescope is built to achieve. Figure 8-3 A collimated telescope should appear symmetrical with the central obstruction centered in the star's diffraction pa

Center and focus the object in the 25mm eyepiece of the telescope. 4 In order to accurately center an object in the eyepiece it may be necessary to change the slew speed of the motors. To change the slew speed, press the RATE button then select a number from 1 (slowest) to 9 (fastest). 5 With the object centered in the eyepiece, use the azimuth (right/left) and altitude (up/down) adjustment knobs on the finderscope to place the red alignment dot directly over the centered object. 6 7 Once you ha
There are various types of eyepieces of varying quality to choose from. B. Magnification through the telescope has its limits. These limits are determined by the laws of optics and the nature of the human eye. The maximum usable power is equal to 60 times the aperture of the telescope (in inches). So your telescope has a maximum useful power of 180x (3" x 60). If you purchased the 114mm model (4.5") then your maximum useful power is 270x (4.5" x 60). You can create power higher than this limit
Use a magnetic compass if you are not sure which way north is. 2. Make sure the mount is level. A carpenters level may be helpful. 3. Recheck all hardware and knobs to make sure all are tight. F. To focus the telescope and align the finderscope: 1. Remove the front lens cover (#5). 2. With a low power eyepiece tight in the eyepiece adapter (with its lens cover removed), position the telescope tube to look at any object about one mile or further away during the day. Put the object in the cen
