C D En glish Thank you for purchasing an MB-CP10 battery pack for use with Nikon COOLPIX 8400 digital cameras. The MB-CP10 takes six LR6 (AA) batteries (alkaline, lithium, NiCad, or NiMH) and includes alternate shutter-release and zoom buttons that make it easier to take pictures with the camera in vertical orientation. Precautions for Use • Do not use the MB-CP10 with non-compatible devices. • Use only those battery types recommended in this manual. • Do not short the battery pack’s power terminals with a metal object such as a necklace or keys. Shorting the power terminals could result in leakage, fi re, explosion, or other damage to the batteries in the battery pack. Be sure to replace the contact cover when the battery pack is not in use. • When the battery holder is removed from the MB-CP10, remove the batteries or place the holder in a container to avoid possible short-circuits caused by contact with other metal objects. • Should you notice smoke or an unusual smell or noise coming from the battery pack, discontinue use immediately and take the device to the retailer or a Nikon-authorized service representative for inspection. Be sure to replace the battery pack contact cover when the battery pack is not in use; when replacing the cover, ensure that the signal contacts are covered as shown. 2 Open the battery-chamber cover in the base of the camera handgrip (Figure 2A-) and remove the battery, if present. Press the cover down (Figure 2A-) and twist to remove (Figure 2A-). Place the battery-chamber cover in the battery-chamber cover holder and slide the latch to the closed position ( ; Figure 2B).
