Installation and Configuration
Functional Diagram of the Direct Connect Cluster
(SPOFless)
Most of the procedure for installing a SPOFless cluster is
Public Network
identical to the installation of a SPOF cluster solution.
Subsections below only document the differences between
a standard cluster installation and a SPOFless cluster
installation. For more details on how to install and configure

The most important thing to know when installing FC Array

SPOFless version of FC Array Assistant allows mirroring of

which is necessary for SPOFless clusters. Additionally it is

Another factor concerning the installation of FC Array

is advisable to install a copy of the client on each cluster

node and on the client monitor to ensure it is available
during periods of network instability.
RS/12FC External Shared Storage Configuration
The FC Array Assistant utility is used to configure, manage

and monitor RS/12FC storage. The Manual Configuration

mode is recommended because it provides more control
over the setup of different parameters compared to the
Automatic or Assisted Configuration modes. Manual mode
allows the addition of new RAID sets, addition of logical

of the RS/12FC storage subsystem. The first issue has to

both controllers in the same RS/12FC cabinet it is important
to download the firmware individually to each controller.

Also, when flashing the firmware on the controller, the
various configuration parameters on the controller are not
