Anleitung Zusammenfassung

Part 6 - Configuring the Disk Arrays
In this part you will connect operating power, power up the storage cabinets, and then configure the arrays.
Powering Up the HP Rack Storage/8
To power up the HP Rack Storage/8s:
1. Check that power is connected to the HP Rack Storage/8s and that the two power cords for each HP
Rack Storage/8s are on a separate circuit thereby supplying redundant power.
2. Turn on power for all the HP Rack Storage/8 cabinet(s).
CAUTION
Do not run a HP Rack Storage/8 if the fan is not working.
Creating the Arrays
In the following paragraphs you will use HP NetRAID Assistant (on System A) to create and initialize the
shared logical disks. However, before running HP NetRAID Assistant, you need to partially boot System B so
that the HP NetRAID Adapters can coordinate array configurations without confusing inputs from the NOS.
Later, Microsoft Server Cluster Software will protect the cluster from inappropriate system access.
CAUTION
From this point forward and until Microsoft Cluster Server Software is fully installed
(after Part 7 of this guide), make sure that only one NetServer system is running NT 4.0
at a time. The other system must be either powered off or held at the NT loader prompt.
To ensure proper configuration of the disk arrays follow these instructions carefully, as
you will be starting with System A and then using System B to check the configuration.
Powering Up the HP NetServers
To partially boot System B and turn on power to System A:
NOTE
In step 2 you are required to take action during bootup of System B. Read step 2 before
turning on power to System B so that you will be prepared to take the required action.
1. Turn on power at System B.
During bootup, you are prompted to select the operating system you want to start.
2. At the operating system prompt, press Esc to hold the system at the loader prompt.
Pressing Esc puts the partially booted System B on hold.
3. Check that there are no CDs or floppy disks in System A drives and turn on power to System A.
Defining RAID Arrays
With System B on hold, you can now use HP NetRAID Assistant (on System A) to create and initialize the
shared logical disks. To set up your RAID arrays:
1. Once System A has booted, fully insert the disk drives that you earlier slid into the HP Rack Storage/8s.
2. Setup your RAID arrays using RAID level 1 and/or RAID level 5. Appendix C provides examples of
setting up RAID level 1 and 5. Refer to the HP NetRAID User Guide in HP Information Assistant for
detailed information about HP NetRAID configuration issues.
3. Go to the next procedure, Creating the Array File Systems to finish configuring the RAID Arrays.
