Channel hard disk drives supported within the HP StorageWorks 3000/5000 and 4000/6000/8000
Enterprise Virtual Arrays.

Enhancements
The following enhancements are included in this release:
• The command aging default of Mode 0x00 now equals 1.2 seconds.
• The PLOGI response to Queue position and LIP logout has been corrected.
• Corrections have been made to minimize Bypass, Abort IOEDC, and Timeout errors during
sequential writes.
• Performance enhancements have been made to address drive hang or assert conditions.
• New assert recovery improvements ensure that the drive provides a check condition and then
returns to normal function.
• Improvements have been made to target-generated LIP (reset) behavior.
• Enhancements have been made to drive code SMART, error recovery, and sense code techniques.
Prerequisites
To upgrade multiple disk drives online without the data migration process, you must be running:
• VCS 3.100 or later on EVA3000/5000
• XCS 6.000 or later on EVA4000/6000/8000
• HP Command View EVA 6.0.2 or later
NOTE:
You can upgrade disk drives using the data migration process if required or preferred. See HP
StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array upgrading disk drive firmware read me first for instructions.
Installation instructions
HP recommends that you use the bundled firmware file to upgrade all hard disk drives rather than
manually upgrade the firmware on an individual disk drive. To upgrade al hard disk drives:
