1. Open the Microsoft Cluster Administrator.
2. Select a disk group resource in the left pane.
3. Right click each disk resource in right pane, one at a time, and select Properties.
4. Select the Advanced tab from the Properties menu.
5. Locate the Pending Timeout value and change it to 360.
6. Click OK.
Reserving adequate free space
To ensure efficient storage system operation, a certain amount of unallocated capacity, or free space,
should be reserved in each disk group. The recommended amount of free space is influenced by your
system configuration. For guidance on how much free space to reserve, refer to the HP StorageWorks
Enterprise Virtual Array configuration best practices white paper, which can be downloaded from the

Avoiding slow creation of multiple related snapshots
To minimize impact of snapshot and snapclone performance on system performance, transition cache
on source virtual disks to write-through mode using Command View EVA before starting the snapshot
or snapclone. The impact of creating one snapshot may be tolerable and may not require this action.
However, creation of multiple snapshots of the same virtual disk requires this action.

Perform VCS 3.028 online upgrade during off-peak hours
When upgrading the controller software to VCS 3.028, be aware that the upgrade process can cause
system time outs. To avoid this situation, upgrade the software during off-peak hours with minimal
applications running.

for complete upgrading instructions.
HP Business Copy EVA upgrade
If you are using HP Business Copy EVA, HP Replication Solutions Manager must be upgraded to version
1.2 to work properly with VCS 3.028. HP Replication Solutions Manager 1.2 can be downloaded

HP Business Copy EVA licensing
HP Business Copy refers to the snapshot and snapclone replication features of HP StorageWorks arrays.
You can use HP Command View EVA, or host platform interfaces to specify the virtual disks (LUNs)
to replicate. You must acquire and install a replication license key for each array that is to support
HP Business Copy replication.
With HP Replication Solutions Manager (RSM) you can automate the replication of virtual disks using
jobs. By installing HP Replications Solutions Manager host agents, you can also perform replication
release notes (VCS 3.028)
