Prerequisites
Multiple-path support
Linux with EVA storage requires the installation of StorageWorks Secure Path or Multipathing software
to achieve high-availability, multipath capability.
For detailed multipathing information, refer to the HP StorageWorks using the QLogic 7.xx.xx and 8.xx.xx
driver for single-path or multi-path failover mode on Linux systems application note.
NOTE:
SLES8 with kernels 198 and 215 is not supported with Secure Path. Refer to your HP representative for
specific Secure Path or multiple-path configuration information.
Compatibility/Interoperability
Switch support
This release supports the Fibre Channel (FC) switches and firmware versions listed in the HP StorageWorks
SAN design reference guide, which can be downloaded from the HP support website:
ht p://www.hp.com/support/manuals
Under storage, click Storage Networking, and then click HP StorageWorks SAN under HP StorageWorks
SAN Solutions.
NOTE:
HP recommends that you do not mix switch firmware versions in your SAN. It is considered a best
practice to uniformly upgrade al switches in the SAN.
HP StorageWorks Storage System Scripting Utility
The latest version of the HP Storage System Scripting Utility (SSSU) is available on the software
downloads website:

Under storage, click Storage software, and then select HP StorageWorks Command View EVA Software
under Storage Device Management Software. Select the version of the HP StorageWorks Command View
EVA Media Kit you want to download.
Important notes
QLogic failover preference
If you are using the built-in failover functionality of the QLogic driver 7.00.03 or later, set the failover
preference to Path A Failover or Path B Failover in the Management Appliance host settings. Failing to do
so can cause I/O errors when a failover occurs.
