For a wider weld, draw the wire back and forth across the joint in a curve, this is called a weave bead. Note: If too much current is drawn from the Flux Wire Welder, the Thermal Overload protector will activate, the amber indicator will light, and the Arc Welder will turn off until it cools down. If this happens, turn the Power Switch to the OFF position and wait about 3 ~ 5 minutes. 9. After a few seconds, stop, switch off the welder, and check the progress. Compare your weld’s appearance with

Allow the Tong Tips (part #48) and the workpiece to cool before handling. (See Figures A, B, E, and Assy. Diagram.) 8. MAKE SURE THE WORKPIECE IS SECURED AT ALL TIMES DURING OPERATION. Use a vise, clamps, etcetera (not provided). 9. OVERUSE CAN CAUSE OVERHEATING. After continuous use, allow the Spot Welder adequate time to cool before the next use. 10. BEFORE TRYING NEW OR COMPLICATED TECHNIQUES, STUDY THE PROCEDURE, AND PRACTICE WITH SCRAP METAL. 11. ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE SPOT WELDER FROM ITS E

Push in until the wire comes out the Welding Torch head. If it cannot be fed manually all the way out, it can be fed automatically when the welding unit is powered up. 6. Close the Feed Mechanism (10) over the wire, and adjust the feed tension (D) if necessary. 7. Check that +/– cables to connection Knobs (29) are correct. See photo (top-left). When using non-flux wire and protective gas, connect wire cables as shown in photo. For 0.9 flux cored wire, no gas is required. Reverse cable connection

Unplug the Welder. Slightly tighten the Tension Adjusting Knob (10b) on the Wire Feed Assembly, and rewind the Welding Wire slightly before retrying. (See Figure E.) To check the tension on the Wire Feed Assembly, feed the Welding Wire against a piece of scrap wood from 2 to 3 inches away. If the Wire stops instead of bending, turn the Welder OFF. Unplug the unit from its electrical outlet. Then, slightly tighten the Tension Adjusting Knob (10b) on the Wire Feed Assembly. (See Figure E.) FIGURE
