Materials used to make the filter will not infect or contaminate your water supply, and will not cause bacteria to form or grow. However, during shipping, storage, installing and operating, bacteria could get into the filter. Put 1 teaspoon (0.1 ounce) of calcium hypo- chlorite into the valve inlet as far as possible.
