The upper and lower sash must open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 15 in (381mm) from the bottom of the sash to the window sill. Select a centrally located window on the side of the room that receives the least direct sunlight. There should be no obstruction to air flow either inside(i.e curtains) or outside (i.e fence, wall or bushes).
