The base can remain in the vehicle during visual inspection of carrier. Turn carrier upside down so the underside of the carrier faces upward. If one or both tabs do not fully cover the opening, contact Britax Child Safety, Inc. at 888-427-4829 for further instruction. If both tabs are not fully covered, you may continue to use the carrier in vehicle without the base. On bottom of carrier where rubber strips run along edges of support rails, there is an exposed opening with attachment hooks.
