System installation and recovery
This section describes issues related to the system installation and recovery process.
Issue: Data volumes are not remounted after system recovery
Mounted data volumes are not remounted after performing a system recovery. These data volumes are not
damaged or destroyed but they are not visible after a system recovery operation.
Workaround: In order to restore the mount points to their original locations, you must record them prior to
running system recovery.
1.
Using Windows Disk Manager, record the mount points of the volumes within the root directory of each
volume.
2.
After running system recovery, scan the system to find data volumes that are not assigned drive letters.
3.
Temporarily mount the volumes that are not assigned drive letters.
4.
Locate the recorded list of mount points and remount the temporarily mounted volumes to the correct loc-
ations according to the record.
Issue: System recovery may fail on storage systems with external arrays
System recovery may sometimes fail on storage systems with external arrays that have virtual disks attached.
Workaround: Disconnect the array and restart the system recovery process. After the image has been restored,
reconnect the array.
Issue: When a non-English language is used during system recovery, the Windows Storage Server 2008 user
interface is displayed in English
During system recovery, the Windows Storage Server 2008 user interface is displayed in English when a
different language is selected at the beginning of the system recovery process.
Workaround: Change the system language after the system recovery process is complete.
1.
In Control panel, double-click Regional and Language Options.
2.
Select the Keyboards and Languages tab.
3.
Click Install/Uninstall Languages.
4.
Click Install Languages.
5.
Select the desired language file folder and then click Next.
NOTE:
Language files are located in the C:\hpnas\Components\languagepacks folder.

Accept the license terms and then click Next.
7.
Click Install.
8.
Check the Change my display language to and Apply Changes to system accounts check boxes and then
click Log off.
9.
After logging on again, configure additional regional settings by navigating to Start > Control Panel >
Regional and Language Options.
Issue: System recovery fails on some storage systems with the SC11Xe SCSI HBA installed
HP StorageWorks X1800 and X3800 Network Storage Systems that have the SC11Xe SCSI HBA installed
may fail to complete the system recovery process and do not respond after the process is initiated.
Workaround: Uninstall the SC11Xe SCSI HBA card, run the system recovery, and then re-install the HBA card.
