1 While holding down [GRAND PIANO/ FUNCTION], press one of the A#1 – G2 keys to start playback. Each of the Preset Songs is assigned to each of these keys. For details on assignment, see below. E3 2 Execute the same operation again to stop the Metronome. NOTE • Pressing only [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION] also stops the Metronome, but it also resets to the Grand Piano Voice. Selecting a Beat While holding down [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION], press the E4 key to decrease the value, or the F4 key to increase the value. The default value is “no beat.” When a value other than “no beat” is selected, the first beat is accented with a bell sound. F4E4 Adjusting the Tempo While holding down [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION], press the F3 – D4 keys (to which numbers 0 – 9 are assigned individually) to specify the three-digit value as a Tempo of the Metronome and Song. To specify “95,” for example, press the F3 (0), D4 (9) and A#3 (5) keys in order while holding down [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION]. F3 D#4 To restore the default value: While holding down [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION], press the D#4 key. NOTE • The default tempo value of the Metronome is 120. • The setting range is 32 – 280. Adjusting the Volume of the Metronome While holding down [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION], press the F#4 key to decrease the volume of the Metronome, the G4 key to increase the volume, or the G#4 to restore the default volume (10). P-35 Owner’s Manual 13 Auto Power Off Function Auto Power Off Function To disable Auto Power Off: When the instrument is turned off: While holding down the A-1 key (lowest key), press the [ ] (Standby/On) switch to turn on the power so that the power indicator flashes three times, after which the Auto Power Off is disabled. A-1 When the instrument is turned on: While holding down [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION], press the A-1 key (lowest key). To enable Auto Power Off: While holding down [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION], press the A#-1 key. A#-1 A-1 About MIDI The instrument features MIDI IN/OUT terminals, allowing you to connect the instrument to other instruments and devices—including computers—and take advantage of the various performance and recording capabilities in MIDI applications. Connecting to the MIDI [IN] [OUT] terminals MIDI [IN] [OUT] terminals Use MIDI cables to connect external MIDI devices to these connectors. About MIDI MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a standard format for data transmission/reception. It enables the transmission of performance data and commands between MIDI devices and personal computers. Using MIDI, you can control a connected MIDI device from the instrument, or control the instrument from a connected MIDI device or computer. NOTE • Since MIDI data that can be transmitted or received varies depending on the type of MIDI device, check the chapter “MIDI data format” in “MIDI Reference” (page 4) to find out what MIDI data and commands your devices can transmit or receive. 14 P-35 Owner’s Manual About MIDI P-35 Owner’s Manual 15 MIDI functions enable you to transmit performance data between MIDI devices Transmitting performance data to and from another MIDI device Transmitting performance data to and from a computer You can connect the MIDI terminals of this instrument to the USB terminal on the computer via an optional USB-MIDI interface device (such as the Yamaha UX16). To do this, you need to install the USB-MIDI driver to the computer. For more information, refer to the manual that came with the USBMIDI interface device. Setting the MIDI Transmit Channels In any MIDI control setup, the MIDI channels of the transmitting and receiving devices must be matched for proper data transfer. You can specify the channel on which this instrument transmits MIDI data. To do this, while holding down [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION], press one of the D6 – E6 keys. The D6 key decreases the value by 1, the D#6 key increases the value by 1, and the E6 key restores the default value (channel 1).
