Movement Sensor With Sound Monitor OWNER'S MANUAL KEEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. ©2008 Graco ISPD026BB 11/08 Failure to follow these warnings and the assembly instructions could result in serious injury or death. This device is designed to aid in themonitoring of your child. When using themonitor, you must still provide the supervision necessary for the continued safety of yourchild. This product is not designed or intended for use as a medical monitor. Always be sure that both the transmitter andreceiver are working properly and are withinrange of each other. • STRANGULATION HAZARD. Keep theadapter cords out of the reach of children. Do not use with extension cords. • DO NOT place the Nursery Unit or its cordwithin your child’s reach. Do not put the Nursery Unit inside a crib or playard. • Use ONLY with 110-120 volt AC electrical outlets. • Protect the AC adapter cords. Place them so they are not walked on or pinched byfurniture or other items. • Allow for proper ventilation when units are inuse. Do not cover the Nursery Unit orParent Unit with any object such as ablanket. Do not place it in a drawer or in anylocation which would muffle the sound or interfere with the normal flow of air. • DO NOT immerse any part of the NurseryUnit or Parent Unit in water. Clean only with a dry cloth. • DO NOT place unit near water andmoisture. Do not use the Nursery Unitoutdoors. Do not use the Nursery Unit nearpossible wet areas, such as a bathtub, shower, wash basin, sink, laundry tub, swimming pool, wet basement, etc. • Keep Nursery Unit away from heat sources, such as fireplaces, radiators, stoves, and TVs or other appliances. Heat can damage thecase or electrical parts. WARNING: This product is not a toy. • Do not use the Nursery Unit if: • The adapter cords or plugs have been damaged. • The unit has been exposed to liquids. • Unit has been dropped or is damaged. • DO NOT OPEN THE NURSERY UNIT, PARENT UNIT OR ADAPTERS. No user-serviceable parts inside. Risk ofelectrical shock, fire or death. • The antenna used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation distanceof at least 20 cm (7.9”) from all persons andmust not be co-located or operating inconjunction with any other antenna ortransmitter. Charge the batteries for 15 hours prior to first use. Be sure to have the monitor in the OFF position during this period. Only use the AC adapters included with your monitor. DO NOT use these adapters with any otherequipment. • When unplugging the AC adapter from the nursery unit, be sure it is switched to the off position. If it isn’t, the unit will revert tobattery mode if batteries are installed. • You can use rechargeable batteries in the Nursery Unit, however, they will not be recharged by plugging in the AC adapter. To recharge, remove the batteries and use an external charger. 2 • This product is NOT a substitute for direct supervision of your baby. Check your baby’sactivities at regular intervals. Monitoring ofpremature babies, or those considered to beat risk, should always be carried out underthe supervision of a health professional. • Always place both the Nursery Unit andParents’ Unit on a flat surface in an uprightposition and allow for proper ventilation. • Avoid damage to the Sensor Pad cord and to the adapter cords. Route cords so thatthey are not likely to be walked on or pinchedby items placed on or against them. • Route sensor pad cord only below cribmatress and out of reach of children. • Use ONLY AAA (LR03) batteries (not included) and/or the AC adapters provided for the Parents’ Units. • During long periods of non-use remove allbatteries from their compartments and unplugthe AC adapters. • This monitor uses public airwaves totransmit signals. The Parents’ Unit may pick up signals or interference from other nurserymonitors in your area. Your monitor may even be picked up by other households. To protect your privacy, make sure both units are turned off when not in use. If you experience interference, change the channel on bothunits. • When the monitor is in use, do not use acrib mobile or other crib accessories that mayproduce vibrations. Other sources ofvibrations may include fans, washingmachines, loud music, etc. These sources of vibration may interfere with the performanceof your Angelcare® monitor and the alarm will not sound if it continues to detect anymovement other than your baby’s. Be sure all vibration sources are eliminated before usingthe monitor. • You may experience false alarms for several reasons. The most common reason is the Nursery Unit has not been turned off after you have removed your baby from the crib. Another reason is the Sensor Pad has not been placed under the mattress properly. Be sure the Sensor Pad is on a flat, firm surface with the turquoise side facing up. The sensitivity level may also need to beadjusted.
