They recommend homeowners choose only sealed, direct vent gas fireplaces to preserve indoor and outdoor air quality and to prevent by-products such as carbon monoxide, soot and nitrogen dioxide from entering your home. Sealed gas fireplaces also prevent excess moisture from building up in your house.
