Never use your computer to modify, delete, move, or rename any image files that are in the camera’s built-in memory or on its memory card. Doing so can cause problems with the camera’s image management data, which will make it impossible to play back images on the camera and can drastically alter remaining memory capacity. Whenever you want to modify, delete, move, or rename an image, do so only on images that are stored on your computer. IMPORTANT! • Never unplug the USB cable, or operate the camera while viewing or storing images. Doing so can cause data to become corrupted. Transferring Images Automatically and Managing Them on Your Macintosh If you are running Mac OS X, you can use the iPhoto application that comes bundled with the operating system to manage your images. If you are running Mac OS 9, you will need to use commercially available software. Using the Camera with a Computer 133 Playing a Movie Playing a Movie You can use QuickTime, which comes bundled with your operating system, to play back movies on a Macintosh. To play back a movie, first copy it to your Macintosh and then double-click the movie file. . Movie Playback Precautions Proper movie playback may not be possible on some Macintosh models. If you experience problems, try the following. – Change the movie image quality setting to “STD” or “LP”. – Upgrade to the latest version of QuickTime. – Shut down other applications that are running. Even if proper playback is not possible on your Macintosh, you can use the AV cable that comes bundled with the camera to connect to the video input terminal a TV or Macintosh and play back movies that way. IMPORTANT! • Be sure to move the movie data to the hard disk of your Macintosh before trying to play it. Proper movie playback may not be possible for data accessed over a network, from a memory card, etc. Viewing User Documentation (PDF Files) You must have Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer in order to view the contents of a PDF file. Name and Maximum Number Allowed Example File Each folder can contain up to 9999 files named CIMG0001 through CIMG9999. Depending on your camera model, the sample scene is named either “For eBay” or “Auction”. – Images recorded with the eBay scene are stored in a folder named “100_EBAY”. – Images recorded with the Auction scene are stored in a folder named “100_AUCT”. • BEST SHOT also has a scene named “For YouTube” that optimizes movie settings for recording movies for upload to YouTube.
