Tip the hood on its back and remove filters and set aside. To Remove Filters: 1. Using the filter handles, pull filter towards the front of the grill vent hood. B C A A. Filter handles B. Wood Mounting Strip Installation 1. Determine and mark the centerline on the wall where the grill vent hood will be installed. Based on the ceiling or soffit height, determine the distance “X” (30" [76.2 cm] min, 36" [91.4 cm] max) needed between the cooking surface and the bottom of the grill vent hood. To this distance, add 15... " (43.8 cm) and draw a horizontal line (A) about 24" (61.0 cm) long centered on the vertical centerline (B) at this distance for the wood mounting strip. B E A CD X A. Locate and mark the wall studs along the horizontal line. 3. Center the 1” x 4” (2.5 x 10.2 cm) wood mounting strip above the horizontal line. 4. Use 2 -#10 Phillips head screws to secure the mounting strip to the wall. Tighten screws securely. IMPORTANT: Ensure that the wood mounting strip is attached to every available wall stud. C 1." Place the metal transition duct piece over the vent openings in the top of the grill vent hood. 2. Securely fasten with 4 - #10 sheet metal screws using a #2 Phillips screwdriver. A B A. Transition duct piece B. #10 sheet metal screws Complete Preparation 1. Determine and make all necessary cuts for the vent system. Install the vent system before installing the grill vent hood. See the “Venting Requirements” section. 2. Determine the location where the power supply cable will be run. 3. Drill a 1..." (3.2 cm) hole at this location. 4. Pull enough power supply cable through to allow for easy connection to the terminal box. Install Grill Vent Hood 1. Using 2 or more people, lift the grill vent hood onto the mounting strip. A A. 4 -#10 mounting screws 2. Center and level the recess on the back of the grill vent hood onto the mounting strip. 3. Securely fasten 4 -#10 mounting screws (not supplied) through the grill vent hood, mounting strip and into the wall. Optional Step: After the grill vent hood is attached to the wood mounting strip, it may be further secured by installing 2 screws into the wall from the inside of the grill vent hood. It may be necessary to drill through the back wall of the grill vent hood to do so. Make Electrical Connection WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard Disconnect power before servicing. Replace all parts and panels before operating. Failure to do so can result in death or electrical shock. 1. Disconnect power. 2. Remove terminal box cover. 3. Remove the knockout in the terminal box cover and install a UL listed or CSA approved ..."strain relief. 4. Run 3 wires, black, white and green, in ..." conduit from service panel to terminal box. Use UL listed wire connectors and connect white wires (H) together. WARNING Fire Hazard Electrically ground the blower. Use copper wire. Connect ground wire to green ground screw in terminal box. Failure to do so can result in death, fire, or electrical shock. 7. Connect green (or bare) ground wire from home power supply to the unused green ground wire (A) in the terminal box. 8. Tighten strain relief screws. 9. Install terminal box cover. 10. Using the light bulb removal tool, check all light bulbs to make sure they are secure in their sockets. 11. Reconnect power. Install Duct Cover (Optional Accessory) 1. Use 4 - #10 sheet metal screws to assemble the duct cover sides to duct cover front. 2. From inside the grill vent hood, attach duct cover to the top of the grill vent hood using 8 - #10 sheet metal screws. Reinstall Grease Filters See “Metal Grease Filters” in “Grill Vent Hood Care” section. Complete Installation Check Grill Vent Hood Operation 1. Press the light button (B) to turn on the light, press again to turn light off. 2. Press fan button (A) “up” to turn fan on Low Speed. Press the fan button “down” to turn fan to High Speed. 3.
