The programme switch must always be operated in a clockwise direction and when the machine is switched off, to allow the switch to ’’click” into the selected setting. The programme only starts, however, when you press the ’’switch on” button. The button then begins to rotate. It stops only during the heating up period until the required temperature is reached. Temperature control With the temperature control knob you can adjust the temperature to any level between 30 °C and 95 °C. In the position marked by the brown dot • the machine carries out a cold wash (e.g. for wool). Please follow the manufacturer’s washing instructions and pay attention to the international symbols on the laundry care labels. 6 Using the spin speed selector You can select the spin speed as you wish, or as the laundry requires. The lowest setting is approx. 500 rpm., the maximum speed being 1100 rpm. The higher the spin speed, the better the drying result. Press this button after you have selected your wash programme. (See also page 14 ’’How to wash correctly”.) o Switch off button Press this button when the programme has finished. This also cancels all other functions you may have previously selected. \1/2/ Economy button for small loads Press this button if you wish to wash a smaller load, i.e. the drum is not full. Application: About half a drum full (up to 2.5 kg dry weight of whites and coloureds and up to 0.8 kg of easy-care fabrics and delicates). Depending on the programme you save: □ Water. Your LAVAMAT washes and rinses with less water. □ Electricity. The heating up time is reduced, the required temperature is nevertheless reached. □ Washing powder: Approx. 30 %. □ Time. Thanks to the reduced heating up time the programme does not last so long. Basically, you should wash full loads whenever possible to achieve maximum economy in every respect. You can combine the Vi button with programmes 1, 2 and 4, and buttons l\z7l and Iwl for easy-care fabrics. 8 The function of the knobs and buttons Energy saving button If you have only lightly to normally soiled cottons and linens (e.g. underwear, white or coloured bed linen which has only been used for a short time), you can use this button. This will help you to save up to 30 % electricity. The temperature is limited to 60 °C and the water is heated up slowly. The energy saving programme works as intensively and lasts almost as long as the programme for whites or colour-fast 95 °C. You can combine the E button with programmes 1 and 2.
