HydroFix™ Replacement Hydrostatic Release unit (E) . Open faced release rod (C) . 2 Mounting bracket adapters (J) . Mounting rod adapter, metal (L) . Small cotter pin (G) . 4 Mounting bracket screws (F) . HRU Expiration Label (K) . Slotted spring pin (I) Tools required: Phillips-head screwdriver, pliers Instructions: 1.) Unscrew the four side screws removing the front cover from the bottom mounting plate, keeping the screws. 2.) Unscrew the spring loaded HRU Rod from the bracket and remove the expired HRU. Discard all HRU rods and components. 3.) Align mounting bracket adapters (J) with the screw holes on the bottom mounting plate (see Figure A). 4.) Using the 4 screws removed from the front cover; loosely attach mounting bracket adapters (J) to the bottom mounting plate. Some adjustments may be needed to align the bracket screw holes with the screw holes on the bottom mounting plate. 5.) Mark the expiry date on the HRU according to the instructions in Section 3. 6.) Record the expiration date on the HRU expiration label (K) with an indelible marker. 7.) Slide the metal mounting rod adapter (L) onto top of HRU unit. Place the HRU release rod (C) into the mounting rod adapter, aligning the holes. 8.) With pliers, insert slotted spring pin (I) into the aligned holes, securing the three pieces together .(see Figure A). 9.) Place the HRU assembly with the expiration calendar facing the bottom mounting plate and insert rod through the bottom mounting plate hole (Figure A). Insert small cotter pin (G) through the small hole in the rod, securing the HRU to the bottom mounting plate. 10.) Place the front cover onto the bottom mounting plate with the HRU release rod sticking out of the front cover hole. Align the holes on the sides of the front cover with the holes in the metal adapter brackets (J). (see Figure A). 11.) Attach the front cover and bottom mounting plate using the 4 screws (F) as shown in Figure A. 12.) Carefully place the EPIRB back into the bracket with the lanyard facing toward the back of the bracket by pushing the bracket ejector spring back and placing the beacon into the bracket. Close the swing arm door securely to hold the beacon in place. Lock the swing arm door in place with the door pin. Tighten all eight (8) screws. 13.) Place HRU expiration label (K) on the outside of the bracket in a visible location. Figure A SECTION 8 – INSTALLING THE HRU IN A CAPSULE BRACKET The ACR capsule bracket is a discontinued product that looks like this: Contents of the HydroFix™ HRU Kit that you will need: . Remove the front cover and carefully release the EPIRB from the bracket. 2.) Remove the old HRU unit and rod from the bracket by pressing the spring release back and sliding the old HRU up and out of the bracket. 3.) Take the capsule design release rod (B) and place on top of the small rod on the HRU aligning the two sets of holes on the base. (see Figure A). 4.) Place large cotter pin (H) through the two holes, securing the two rods together. 5.) Place keyed bracket adapter (D) on the bottom of the HRU. This part is keyed so that it will fit together only one way. Turn to the right until it snaps into place. 6.) Mark the expiry date on the HRU according to the instructions in Section 3. 7.) Record the expiration date on the HRU expiration label (K) with an indelible marker. 8.) Push the release spring back against the bracket aligning the holes on the spring with the holes in the back cover of the bracket. 9.) Take the assembled HRU and place the washer end of the HRU through the larger top hole and slide down into the smaller slot. 10.) This will lock the HRU and spring into place. Carefully release the HRU and make sure it is securely in place. 11.) Carefully place your beacon into the bracket. 12.) Place the top cover on top of the bottom cover and maneuver the HRU rod to come out the rod hole on the bracket. 13.) Make sure the bottom hinge and the top bracket are securely connected. 14.) Place a cotter pin into the top of the HRU release rod locking the bracket together. 15.) Place the cotter pin into the hole closest to the front cover ensuring a secure and snug fit. Figure B NOTE: The release rod contains multiple holes on the end to secure the front cover to the back cover. 16.) Place HRU expiration label (K) on the outside of your bracket in a visible location.
