Make sure that the USB flash memory you are formatting does not contain important data. Proceed with caution, especially when connecting multiple USB flash memories. NOTE • Before using the [USB TO DEVICE] terminal, be sure to read “Precautions when using the [USB TO DEVICE] terminal” on page 88. • When you use the instrument along with an application on your iPhone/ iPad, we recommend that you first set “Airplane Mode” to “ON” then set “Wi- Fi” to “ON” on your iPhone/ iPad in order to avoid noise caused by communication. • Certain applications may not be supported in your area. Please check with your Yamaha dealer. NOTICE Do not place your iPhone/ iPad in an unstable position. Doing so may cause the device to fall and result in damage. Connections – Using Your Instrument with Other Devices – MIDI reception MIDI OUT MIDI IN MIDI OUTMIDI IN MIDI transmission Connecting External MIDI Devices (MIDI terminals) Use the MIDI [IN]/[OUT]/[THRU] terminals and standard MIDI cables to connect external MIDI devices (keyboard, sequencer, etc.). MIDI IN Receives MIDI messages from another MIDI device. MIDI OUT Transmits MIDI messages generated by the instrument to another MIDI device. MIDI THRU Simply relays the MIDI messages received at MIDI IN. Instrument External MIDI device NOTE For a general overview of MIDI and how you can effectively use it, refer to “MIDI Basics” on the Yamaha Manual Library (page 5). The MIDI settings such as transmit/receive channels on the instrument can be set via [Menu] > [MIDI]. For details, refer to the Reference Manual on the website. The same operation as using Tempo [-]/[+] and [Tap] buttons can be done on the display. 36 Transpose Transposes the pitch of the entire sound in semitones, or just the sound of the keyboard or MIDI Song. 38 Split Point & Fingering Type Lets you set the Split Point or change the Chord Fingering type. 45, 55 Chord Tutor Shows you an example of how to play a chord that corresponds to the specified chord name. – Balance Adjusts the volume balance among the keyboard parts (Main, Layer, Left), Style, Song and microphone sound. 38 Mixer Filter Adjusts the Harmonic Content (resonance) and sound brightness. 81 EQ Adjusts equalization parameters to correct the tone or timbre of the sound. Effect Selects an Effect type and adjusts its depth for each part. Chorus/Reverb Selects a Chorus/Reverb type and adjusts its depth for each part. Pan/Volume Adjusts panning and volume for each part. (Master) Compressor Lets you turn on/off the Master Compressor, and edit related parameters. (Master) EQ Lets you edit the Master EQ. Score Displays the music notation (score) of the current MIDI Song. 60 Lyrics Displays the lyrics of the current MIDI Song. 61 Text Viewer Displays text files created on your computer. 62 Keyboard Harmony Adds the Harmony effect to the right-hand section of the keyboard. Parameters such as Harmony type can be set. – Mic Setting Makes settings for the microphone sound. – Vocal Harmony Adds Vocal Harmony effects to your singing.
