If you remove the dynamically loaded ciss driver while it is in use, or if you remove
the statically loaded ciss driver at any time, you must perform a reboot. This is normal
behavior under these conditions, and is not affected by patch PHCO_36356.

Automatic hot-plug is not detected.
The HP Smart Array Controllers do not automatically detect the hot-plug of internal disks.
Corrective Action: After replacing a physical disk, run the sautil command with the scan
option.
4.2 For SAS (Serial-Attached SCSI) Smart Array controllers

SATA disks are not supported when the controller is in HBA mode.

New Smart Array P700m controller installations should be on HP-UX 11i v3 March 2010
release or later.
If you are considering a new installation of an HP Smart Array P700m Controller, HP
recommends that you configure it on HP-UX 11i v3 March 2010 release or later.
New installation of a P700m controller is not recommended on HP-UX 11i v3 releases prior
to March 2010. HP-UX 11i v3 releases prior to March 2010 might not guarantee that P700m
Device Special Files (DSFs) persist between releases. This can cause data on arrays to become
unavailable when you upgrade to the March 2010 (or later) release of HP-UX 11i v3.

Special considerations apply when upgrading a server with an MSA2300 Series enclosure
to HP-UX 11i v3 Application Release 0909.
HP-UX 11i v3 Application Release 0909 (AR0909) contains the RAID-01 B.11.31.0903 bundle.
Servers with an MSA2300 Series enclosure as part of the configuration have RAID-01 version
B.11.31.0906 installed. Updating the server with update-ux will not downgrade the RAID-01
driver, but running AR0909 with RAID-01 B.11.31.0906 is not a supported configuration.
To run AR0909 on a server with an MSA2300 enclosure, you must install the RAID-01
B.11.31.0909 bundle after updating the operating system. The 11.31.0909 bundle will be
available as a web release on the HP Software Depot website in September 2009. RAID-01
11.31.0909 provides support for HP StorageWorks MSA2300 Series enclosures, and defect
fixes.
No special considerations apply when upgrading servers that are not configured with an
MSA2300 Series enclosure to AR0909.

Special considerations apply when performing a clean installation of HP-UX 11i v3
Application Release 0909 on a server configured with an MSA2300 Series enclosure.
HP-UX 11i v3 Application Release 0909 (AR0909) contains the RAID-01 B.11.31.0903 bundle.
Servers configured with an MSA2300 Series enclosure require RAID-01 version B.11.31.0906.
Performing a clean installation of AR0909 on a server with an MSA2300 Series enclosure
connected will cause a system panic.
To perform a clean installation of AR0909 on a server with an MSA2300 Series enclosure,
follow these steps:
1.
Power off the system.
2.
Disconnect the MSA2300 Series enclosure.
3.
Power on the system.
4.
Install HP-UX 11i v3, Application Release 0909.
5.
Install RAID-01 B.11.31.0909.
