The display flashes 12:00 until you set the time (see “Setting the Time” on Page 3). (Illustration) INSTALLING A BACKUP BATTERY Your alarm clock has a back-up power system that operates the clock and alarm during a power failure. The display turns off, but the clock keeps running for at least 8 hours (depending on battery strength), and the alarm sounds at the alarm time. The Battery Sentinel indicator, a small red dot at the bottom right of the display, appears if the battery is not installed or needs to be replaced. (Illustration) 2 Your alarm clock requires a 9-volt battery (not supplied) for its back-up power system. For the best performance and longest life, we recommend an alkaline battery, such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-553. Caution: Use only a fresh battery of the required size and recommended type. Note: To prevent unnecessary drain on the battery, install it only after connecting the alarm clock to AC power. (Illustration) 1. Push the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow and lift off the cover. 2. Snap the alarm clock’s battery contacts onto the battery terminals, then put the battery into the compartment. The Battery Sentinel indicator turns off. 3. Replace the cover and slide it in the opposite direction to snap it into place. Replace the battery when the Battery Sentinel indicator lights. Warning: Always dispose of an old battery promptly and properly. 63-960.fm Page 3 Monday, February 14, 2000 11:42 AM SETTING THE DIMMER Set DIMMER to LO in low-light conditions, or to HI for bright light. (Illustration) SETTING THE TIME (Illustration) While holding down TIME, press HOUR. The hour digits advance by 1 with each press. (Hold down HOUR to continuously advance the digits.) Note: The PM indicator appears on the left side of the display during PM hours. While holding down TIME, press MINUTE. The minute digits advance by 1 with each press. (Hold down MINUTE to continuously advance the digits.) SETTING THE ALARM TIME (Illustration) While holding down ALARM, press HOUR. The hour digits advance by 1 with each press. (Hold down HOUR to continuously advance the digits.) The PM indicator appears on the left side of the display during PM hours. While holding down ALARM, press MINUTE. The minute digits advance by 1 with each press. (Hold down MINUTE to continuously advance the digits.) To display the preset alarm time at any time, press ALARM. Note: You can press ALARM, HOUR, and MINUTE at the same time to set the alarm to 12:00 AM. 3 63-960.fm Page 4 Monday, February 14, 2000 11:42 AM WAKING TO THE ALARM To wake to the alarm, set ALARM ON/ OFF to ON. The ALARM indicator lights. At the preset alarm time, the alarm sounds, then automatically turns off after 1 hour, 59 minutes. To turn the alarm off sooner, slide ALARM ON/OFF to OFF. (Illustration) If you do not turn off the alarm, it automatically resets to sound at the same time the next day. Set BUZZER to HI for an extra-loud alarm or to LO for a normal alarm sound level. (Illustration) 4 Using Snooze To silence the alarm but have it sound again in about 9 minutes, press SNOOZE after the alarm sounds. You can press SNOOZE as many times as you like. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. • Handle the clock gently and carefully. Don’t drop it. • Use and store the clock only in normal temperature environments. • Keep the clock away from dust and dirt. • Wipe the clock with a damp cloth to keep it looking new. Modifying or tampering with the clock’s internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate your clock’s warranty.
