Anleitung Zusammenfassung

We are proud to offer you our unique, patented CO Sensor technology that detects CO in a manner similar to the human body's response. The COSTAR® 9SS is an ideal and low-cost way of warning you of both the acute and chronic effects of CO poisoning. Please read this owner's manual carefully so you will have a better understanding of the effects of CO poisoning and the COSTAR® 9SS Detector, as we work together pursuing a safer, healthier air quality for us all. To your good health and safety, Mark Goldstein, Ph.D. President Quantum Group Inc. The CO Safety Shutoff (COSS) is designed to give visual and audible signals and shut your appliance down if carbon monoxide (CO) reaches levels predetermined to be unhealthy or dangerous. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION WHAT SHOULD I DO IF YOU SMELL GAS? • Do not try to light any appliance. • Do not touch the electrical switch. • Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the supplier’s instructions. • If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department. Please study this entire manual before installation, and keep it handy for future reference. Please refer to your appliance owner’s manual for additional safety information. A CO Safety Shutoff is not a substitute for other gas, fire or smoke alarms. This unit is designed to detect CO from any source of combustion; however, it will indicate the presence of CO at the sensor location only. CO gas may be present in other areas of the building undetectable by your unit. For better protection, install a CO detector as recommended by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). QGI P/N 099-0043-01 REV 11/07/01 Page 1 of 4 Instruction Manual: COSTAR® 9SS, 9V CO Safety Shutoff This device may not activate at low CO levels. The Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) has established that continuous exposure to levels of 50 ppm should not be exceeded in an 8-hour period. This detector will respond to CO concentrations of 50 ppm or greater. Individuals with medical problems may consider using detection devices with lower CO detection capabilities. Never spray the unit with water or cleaning solutions of any kind. They may damage the detector. Ventilate the area where unit is installed when household cleaning supplies or similar contaminants are used. Do not paint the unit. Test your detector at least once a week during periods of operation. Manufacturer recommends replacement of detector six years after date of purchase. A. INSTALLATION CAUTION: Before installing your carbon monoxide safety shutoff product, review your appliance owner’s manual for the location of the cast control valve and the thermocouple. 1. Disconnect the thermocouple from the control valve on your gas appliance. 2. Thread the thermocouple interrupter provided into the thermocouple inlet of the control valve until it just bottoms out in the valve. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. (Figure 1) 3. Insert the terminal connections at the end of the FET assembly into the contacts of the thermocouple interrupter with the arrow on the FET assembly pointing toward the control valve. (Figure 1) 4. Thread the thermocouple into the rear of the thermocouple interrupter and tighten. 5. Remove the COSS unit from the sealed bag. 6. Remove the plastic cover of the unit from its base. 7. Locate your unit on any wall, ceiling, or other smooth surface within cord’s reach (approx. 6 ft.) of the appliance. Connect the COSS plug wire to the detector. 8. Connect the 9-volt battery as shown in Figure 2. 9. Re-attach the cover back onto its case. WARNING: Do not run the unit behind heavy draperies or furniture, within 5-feet of any cooking appliance or in direct sunlight. B. OPERATION CONDITION RED L.E.D. BEEPER Normal Flash every 30 seconds No Beep Low Battery Flash every 30 seconds Beep every 30 seconds Fault Condition 2 flashes every 30 seconds 2 beeps every 30 seconds Shut Off 2 flashes every 30 seconds Double Beep every 3 seconds TESTING THE SYSTEM: Push and hold the test button until “beep” is heard, then release button. All functions are tested for correct operation. At the end of the test, the unit will sound a three second test confirmation “beep” and assume normal operation. Appliance will shut down following normal test operation. Appliance must be re-lit to restore function. WARNING: Abnormal test function will result in appliance not being shut down. Cause for abnormal test must be investigated. NORMAL OPERATION: QGI P/N 099-0043-01 REV 11/07/01 Page 2 of 4 Instruction Manual: COSTAR® 9SS, 9V CO Safety Shutoff Once the unit is installed and operating, the red L.E.D. will flash once every 30-seconds. LOW-BATTERY WARNING: When the battery becomes weak, the red L.E.D. will flash, and sound a “beep” once every 30-seconds. The battery needs to be replaced immediately. FAULT CONDITION: Periodically, the unit measurement circuit is self-tested. If an error is detected, the L.E.D. will flash and beeper will sound twice every 30-seconds. This indicates ...
