Remove the tail light lens. 2. Remove the light bulb. 3. Remove the original bulb connector from the back side of the housing. 4. Now is a good time to clean or replace the lens and housing if necessary. 5. Remove the two screws and aluminum plate from the back of the new LED assembly. 6.Insert the new LED assembly through the hole where the original bulb and connector were. Be careful when feeding the wires throughto avoid damaging insulation. 7.Feed the wires through the larger hole in themountingplate.Guide the mountingplate to the bottom of the housing.The flatsideof themountingplateshould be to the outsideand the side with the slight raised center should go intoward the housing. This willalignthe mountin the original housing. 8.Now hold the LEDassembly over the hole where the original bulb was and alignthe mountingplate from the bottomwith the slot in thehousing.Move the LED assembly so the screw holesline up. 9.Screw the mounting plate into the mount using the two previously removed 3/8”#6 screws. This will secure the LED assembly into the housing, you arenowready for reassembly. 10.Make sure theoriginal lens gasketisin place and replace the tail light lens.Tighten the screws down carefully. 11.Cut off the existing light socketas itwill not be used.Do not strip the wires.Trim the wiresfromLED assembly to appropriate length once mounted,making sure wires are routed cleanlyand securely. 12.Use the supplied moisture resistant pigtail connectors* to attach the wires from the new LEDassembly to the existing vehicle harness.Insert appropriate wire from vehicle harnessandmating LED assembly wire into a connector and crimp following instructionsbelow. *For the bestconnection,soldering isrecommended.But to simplify installation,the supplied connectors willprovide a fastweather resistant connection. The correct crimp method for the supplied connectors is: 1.) InsertUNSTRIPPEDwiresinto the connector and ensurethey are allthey way in byobserving the clearbottom ofthe connectorto see the wires are touchingthe end. 2.) Use pliers to push the blue cap down flush with the edgeof the clearbody,completing the connection.The connection will only be correct if pressedfirmlydown with pliers. LED wiresVehicle harnessTaillightBrownBrown or BlackDriver’s TurnGreenGreen orPinkPassenger’s TurnGreenYellow or PurpleGroundBlackChassis or body 13.Repeat forthe otherside. 14.Test the tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals. Ifthe turn signals do notflash you will need to upgrade yourflasher. If you are replacingonly the rearturn signals you should be abletouse a heavy duty electronicflasherfrom your local parts store. If you are replacing both frontand rear or do nothave front bulbs you will need a no-loadflasher,Dakota Digital part numberLAT-NLF.
