Then lower the boom to the stowed position. Result: The drive enable indicator light should come on and remain on while the boom is anywhere in the range shown. 52 Move the lift/drive select switch to the drive position (if equipped). 53 Move the drive control handle off center. Result: The drive function should not operate. 54 Move and hold the drive enable toggle switch to either side and slowly move the drive control handle off center. Result: The drive function should operate. Note: When the drive enable system is in use, the machine may drive in the opposite direction that the drive and steer control handle is moved. Result: The maximum achievable drive speed with the boom extended should not exceed 1 foot per second (0.3 meters per second). If the drive speed with the boom raised or extended exceeds 1 foot per second (0.3 meters per second), immediately tag and remove the machine from service. Know and understand the above principles before going on to the next section. 5 Only use the machine as it was intended. Fundamentals The Work Place Inspection helps the operator determine if the work place is suitable for safe machine operation. It should be performed by the operator prior to moving the machine to the work place. It is the operator's responsibility to read and remember the work place hazards, then watch for and avoid them while moving, setting up and operating the machine.
