Do not turn off the power! This means that internal processing is in progress. Never turn off the power while this screen is being displayed. 10 Using the RSS-303 with a Rodgers Organ ■ Muting Ambience Sound Use this operation when you wish to mute only the reverberant sound added by the RSS ambience system. • Temporarily mute ambience sound. □ 1 Press the [MUTE] button. Only the ambience sound is muted. The direct sound is not muted. • Cancel muting. □ 2 From the muted state, press the [MUTE] button again. Muting is also cancelled when you select a user program. Using the RSS-303 by Itself Turning on Power * Once the connections have been completed (p. S), turn on power to various devices in the order specified. By turning on devices in the wrong order, you risk causing malfunction and/or damage to speakers and other devices. * Always make sure to have the volume level turned down before switching on power. Even with the volume all the way down, you may still hear some sound lohen the power is switched on, but this is normal, and docs not indicate a malfunction. • Turn on the power. □ 1 Press the power switch located on the front panel. The display located in the center of the RSS-303 panel lights, indicating that the power has been turned on. ^ If the power does not turn on, refer to A page 48 c*' page 47 "■Controlling the Power Locally." The method of turning on the power differs depending on your system. If you are using the RSS-303 with a Rodgers organ, refer to "■Remotely Controlling Power." Check. □ 2 Watch the display. The display located in the center of the panel lights, and a screen like the following appears for several seconds. RSS-303 RSS Ambience System _Roland_ The RSS-303 then enters normal operation mode. I □ Room Type 1-8 Cathedral This display is only an example for illustrative purposes. The content of the display differs depending on the settings. You may now begin normal operation. However, we recommend that you make settings in the following cases. When using the RSS-303 for the first time after installation. • When the installed location has changed. • When the speaker placement has changed, refer to "■About Field Settings." m? page 23 "■Starting Setup." c-s page 24 Turning off Power □ 1 Press the front panel power switch. The display in the center of the RSS-303's front panel darkens, indicating that the power is off. If a separate switch has been provided for controlling the power of the entire system, the NOTE power switch on the RSS-303's front panel should be left on. 12 Using the RSS-303 by Itself ■ Normal Operation Mode • In normal operation mode, the following screen is displayed. I □ Room Type 1-8 ^ Cathedral The user program number and the selected room type are displayed. This display is just an example; the type name and the icons differ depending on the settings. • You normally use the RSS-303 in this state. In this state, the [VALUE] knob and [EXIT] button do nothing. • From this state, you can perform the following operations. O Press a user program button to recall settings. Refer to "BSelecting a User Program." »' page 14 O Select and edit parameters. These operations can be performed when the user mode is 1 or 0. Refer to "■Changing Room Type." Refer to "■Storing Your Settings as a User Program." ® page 22 0 Remove the protective cover and enter Setup mode. Refer to "■Starting Setup.” c" page 24 13 Using the RSS-303 by Itself ■ Selecting a User Program • You may select one of three RSS-303 user programs. The user programs already contain ambience sound settings. To recall these settings, press [USER PROGRAM] button [1], [2] or [3]. □ 1 Press the button for the program that you wish to recall. O If the currently selected settings have not been edited n appears, indicating that the newly-selected settings are being recalled. When recall is completed, the RSS-303 returns to normal operating mode. O If the parameters have been edited: A screen first asks whether you wish to discard your edits and recall the newly-selected settings. Read <- Program 3 ? No: [EXIT1_Ves:[S4I| O If you decide not to recall: □ 2 Press the [EXIT] button The recall operation is cancelled, and the RSS-303 returns to normal operating mode.
