When it is dark, it is in the normal condition without Key Transposition. You can thus alternate between “no transposition" and “transposition” simply by pressing the [TRANSPOSE] button (the interval you set will be remembered until you switch off your RD-100). • When the display shows “0", the indicator of the ¡TRANSPOSE! button docs not light bccause activating it would rcsidt in “no transposition" anyway. Example: playing a piece in E Major with the fingering of C Major If you consider C Major as the basic key, there are 4 keys up to “E” that corresponds to the E. You must therefore select the value “4”. ‘ “0” is automatically selected when the piano is switched on. • The Key Transpose function only applies to the Tone you are currently playing. • The demo songs cannot be transposed. Pressing both [+/-] buttons simultaneously will set it to C (0). BeatO n O Demo Tempo O u O User The setting range is -6-0-5. • The Key you set will be retained until the piano is switched off. When the indicator is lit, Key Transposition is on. When it is dark, it is in the normal condition, without any Key Transposition. • When the display shows “0", the indicator for the [TRANSPOSE] button does not light because activating it would result in “no transposition" anyway. Using the Metronome The RD-100 includes a metronome to which you can play the keyboard. The Beat (time signature) and tempo can be changed to your liking. Furthermore, the metronome’s volume can be set in 7 steps. 1. Select a desired beat (time signature) by pressing the Beat [+/-] buttons. Press the [METRONOME] button (indicator lights) to start the metronome. 4. To stop the metronome, press the [METRONOME] button again and confirm the indicator goes out. o Owner's Manual To change the volume of the Metronome While holding down the [METRONOME] button, set the volume with the [+/-] buttons. Listening to a Demo Performance Practicing the piano also involves listening to how other musicians play a given piece. Your RD-100 includes many demonstration songs. Select the Song Number with the SONG [+/-] buttons. 2. Press the [PLAY] button to play the selected song. 3. Press the [PLAY] button again to stop playing. • The Demo Song List shows the Song Names and Song Numbers (see the end of this manual). Changing the Tempo of the Song The RD-100 allows you to change the tempo of the song. Changing the tempo does not affect the pitch. Press the [PLAY] button, and the song will be played at the set tempo. • You can change the tempo even while the song is playing. 3. Press the [PLAY] button again to stop playback. 4. Press the two TEMPO [+/-] buttons simultaneously to return to the original (stored) tempo value. ■ Sometimes, the tempo and/or beat change(s) in the middle of the song. The display, however, will keep showing the tempo value used at the beginning of the song. • You cannot change the beat while a song is being played. Listening To The Left And Right Parts In Isolation A tape recorder records two channels for the sounds played by the right speaker and that by the left speaker. The place where a “channel” is recorded is called a track. The RD-100 uses a similar system: what is played with the right hand is stored on Track 2, while what is played by the left hand is recorded on Track I. This is very convenient for piano lessons, since you can practice each hand separately. Some demo songs include pieces for four-hand performances.
