Each time you press the button, the display changes as follows: 2.1CH t MULTI t AUTO 2.1CH: The sound is output in 2-channel stereo and the sub woofer. MULTI: The sound is output in multi channel. AUTO: Automatically switches between 2.1CH and MULTI according to the type of disc being played. 2.1CH: for CD, dts-CD, SACD, MP3 MULTI: for DVD, VCD Notes • When using headphones, this setting is fixed to “2.1CH”. • When you select “AUTO” in DIGITAL function, the sound is output in 2.1 channel. To adjust the decoding format mode This operation lets you specify the decode type for the signal input to the digital audio jacks and DVD function. 1 Press AMP MENU. 2 Press V or v repeatedly to select “DECODE FORMAT”. 3 Press ENTER. 4 Press B or b repeatedly to select the decode format mode. 5 Press ENTER. •“AUTO MODE” switches between DTS, Dolby Digital, or PCM decoding automatically. • “PCM MODE” decodes all the input signals as PCM signals. If Dolby Digital, DTS, or MPEG (etc.) signals are input, no sound will be heard. Set to “PCM MODE” if, when set to “AUTO MODE”, sound from the digital audio jacks (for CD etc.) is interrupted when playback starts. Display/Other Features 53GB Singing along: Karaoke (Except for North American and European models) You can sing along with any stereo CD or tape by turning down the singer’s voice. To sing karaoke by decreasing the vocal level of a CD or a tape, select “KARAOKE PON”. To sing karaoke of multiplex CD, select “MPX R” or “MPX L”. 4 Start playing the music and adjust the volume. 5 Adjust the microphone volume by turning MIC LEVEL. To adjust the echo level (Asian model only) Turn ECHO LEVEL to adjust the echo level. After you have finished Turn MIC LEVEL to MIN and disconnect the microphone from MIC jack, then press KARAOKE PON repeatedly while pressing SHIFT until “m” disappears. Notes • With some songs, vocals may not be canceled when you select “KARAOKE PON”. • If you recall a sound effect, the karaoke mode is canceled. • During “KARAOKE PON”, “MPX R” or “MPX L”, EFFECT button does not work. • During “KARAOKE PON”, “MPX R” or “MPX L”, DSP effect switches to “KEY CONTROL”. When the karaoke effect is canceled, the DSP effect before entering the karaoke effect is applied again. • The instrumental sound may be reduced as well as the singer’s voice when the sound is recorded in monaural. • The singer’s voice may not be reduced when: — only a few instruments are playing. — a duet is being played. — the source has strong echoes or chorus. — the singer’s voice deviates from the center. — the voice on the source is singing in high soprano or tenor. • When you select or play a Super Audio CD, the karaoke mode is automatically canceled. You cannot select the karaoke mode while selecting or playing a Super Audio...
