• Undo — Undoing the last edit If you erase the wrong track or change the track order incorrectly, this function lets you cancel the last edit and restore the tracks and track order to the condition before the edit. Before you start editing You can edit an MD only when: • The MD is not record-protected. • The MD play mode is normal play. Be sure to check the following before starting editing: 1 Check that the MD is not record- protected. Slide close the tab at the side of the MD to cover the hole. If the MD is record-protected, you cannot edit the MD. 2 Press PLAY MODE so “SHUFFLE” or “PROGRAM” disappears to select normal play. You can edit MDs only during normal play. You cannot edit MDs during Shuffle or Program Play. After editing / Eject the MD, or press 1/u (power) to turn off the system. “TOC writing” flashes. The MD Table of Contents (TOC) is updated and editing is completed. Before pulling out the power cord MD editing is completed when the MD Table of Contents (TOC) is updated. The TOC is updated when you eject the MD or press 1/u (power) and turn off the system. Do not pull out the power cord before updating the TOC (while “TOC” is lit) or while updating the TOC (while “TOC” is flashing) to ensure the complete editing. Labeling an MD — Name Function During Select Synchro Recording, if a CD has a disc title (name), the same title is assigned to the MD (Disc Memo Copy). However, you can also create titles for your recorded MDs and tracks during play or in stop mode. A total of approximately 1700 characters can be input for the disc title and track titles on a single MD. 1 6 CURSOR N MD 1 – 5 p ·P ·Ppp0) 66666 MENU/NO CLEAR 3,45 8 1 Press FUNCTION repeatedly to switch the function to MD. 2 Select the desired MD. To label a disc title, press MD D.SKIP on the remote repeatedly so the button of the desired MD lights green. If the MD appears in the slot, press 6 to load the MD (to the recording/playing unit). To label a track title, turn MULTI JOG until the track number you want to label appears. 3 Press NAME EDIT/CHARACTER. The text input screen appears, and the cursor flashes. If you display the track number in step 2, play starts automatically and you can input the track title while confirming the track. 4 Press NAME EDIT/CHARACTER to select the desired type of character. Each time you press the button, the display changes as follows: A (Upper cases) n a (Lower cases) n 0 (Numbers) n ! (Symbols) n (Blank space) n A n ... 5 Turn MULTI JOG until the character you want appears. To enter a blank space Press CURSOR n without turning MULTI JOG. You cannot enter a space as the first character. To enter a symbol You can use the following 24 symbols. ! ” # $ % & ’ ( ) + , – . / : ; < = > ? @ _ ` 6 Press CURSOR nto enter the character. The cursor shifts rightward and waits for the input of the next character. Editing an MD continued Labeling an MD (continued) 7 Repeat steps 4 to 6 to complete the entire title. If you made a mistake Press CURSOR N or n until the character you want to change flashes, then repeat steps 4 to 6. To erase the character Press CLEAR. Each time you press the button, the character at the position of the cursor is erased. You cannot insert characters. 8 Press ENTER/YES to complete the labeling procedure. The titles you entered appear sequentially, then the display returns to the display in step 1. To cancel labeling Press p for the MD. Copying a disc or track title You can copy a labeled disc or track title to use it as a title of another track or the disc title within a disc. 1 Press MENU/NO so “Edit Menu” appears. 2 Turn MULTI JOG until “Name ?” appears, then press ENTER/YES. 3 Turn MULTI JOG until “Nm Copy ?” appears, then press ENTER/YES. 4 Turn MULTI JOG to select “Disc” (when copying the disc title) or the track number with the title you want to copy, then press ENTER/YES. When “No Name” appears The disc or track has not been labeled. 5 Turn MULTI JOG to select the copy destination track number or “Disc” (when copying as the disc title), then press ENTER/YES. When “Overwrite ??” appears The copy destination already has a disc or track title. To continue and copy the title, press ENTER/YES. To cancel copying Press p for the MD. Checking the titles To check the disc title, press SCROLL on the remote while the deck is stopped. To check the track title, press SCROLL on the remote while in play. The title appears scrolling in the display. To stop scrolling, press SCROLL. Press the button again to restart scrolling. You can also check the titles as follows. • To check a disc title, press MD D.SKIP on the remote repeatedly in stop mode until the desired MD appears. • To check a track title, turn MULTI JOG in stop mode until the desired track number appears. Notes • You can also display disc and track titles by pressing UPPER DISPLAY, but only the first 14 characters appear.
