Activating the Batteries or Installing New Batteries Carefully turn BarMaster over so that the display side is face-down on a soft surface, such as a towel or magazine. Find the battery compartment on the left of the unit’s back. (See diagram on page 9.) Your BarMaster comes with two AG10 batteries already loaded, but you must activate them. To do this, you do not have to remove the battery compartment. Simply pull out the white tab. Batteries should always be installed by an adult. When you need to replace the batteries, press and slide the battery door off . Remove the used batteries, disposing of them properly, and replace them with two fresh AG10 batteries, making sure the polarity (+ and -) matches the diagram in the c o m p a rtment. Then replace the battery compartment door. UP Use this button to scroll up while in menu mode or to page up while in reading mode. DOWN Use this button to scroll down while in menu mode or to page down while in reading mode. PREVIOUS Use this button to return to the previous selection or to the main menu (when in menu mode). Use it also to move to the left while in selection mode—i . e . , when selecting the first letter of a drink’s name. NEXT Use this button to page dow n while in menu mode and to move right while in selection mode. ENTER Use this key to turn BarMaster on and to confirm menu selection. Using Your BarMaster Press and hold the ENTER button for two seconds to turn the Bar- Master on. A welcome screen s h owing the word “B A R M A ST E R” and images of beve r a g e glasses will be displayed. Press E N T E R a gain to open the main menu. You’ll use this menu to find the information you want. (You can return to the main menu from any screen by pressing the PREVIOUS key up to three times, depending on which screen you are viewing.) The main menu on the right is displayed five lines (down) at a time, including the title. Lines are dis 4 played up to ten characters, but highlighting the longer items will cause them to scroll from right to left, spelling out the category. MAIN MENU DRINKS SETTING UP MEASURES MIXERS + MODIFIERS FOOD + DRINK SLANG BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVEL CALCULATOR On the initial screen, the categories are displayed only down to “MIXERS + MODIFIERS.” Use the DOWN button to reveal the rest. Finding a Drink You can find out everything you want to know about popular drinks from an Absolute Salty Dog to a Zorbatini. You can find them by name, categ o ry, liquor, and by occasion. Finding Drinks by Name Step 1. On the main menu page, use the UP and DOWN keys to highlight “D R I N K S” on the Main Menu and press ENTER. The following new menu is displayed. If longer than 10 characters, an item will scroll from left to right when highlighted. NAME CATEGORY LIQUOR OCCASION Step 2. From the drinks menu, highlight “N A M E” and press ENTER. The letters of the alphabet will be displayed. Step 3. Use any of the four navigation keys to highlight the first letter of the name of the drink you wish to select and press ENTER. (Drinks like “7 & 7” that begin with numbers, are found under “A.”) For example, you can select “T” to find “Tom Collins.” The drinks beginning with “T” will be displayed. From any letter grouping, you can scroll to the letter grouping before and the one after. For example, from the “T’s” you can scroll up to the drinks beginning with “S” and down to the drinks beginning with “U.” Step 4. Use the UP, DOWN, and NEXT keys to highlight the desired drink and press ENTER. A new, information menu will be displayed: CATEGORY GLASS TYPE OCCASION RECIPE TECHNIQUE Step 5.
