A missingor damageddischargecovercancausebladecontact or thrownobjectinjuries. • Stoptheblade(s)whencrossinggraveldrives,walks,or roads andwhile notcuttinggrass. • Watchfortrafficwhenoperatingnearorcrossingroadways.This machineis not intendedfor useonany public roadway. • Donot operatethe machinewhile underthe influenceof alcohol or drugs. • Mowonlyindaylightorgoodartificiallight. Nevercarrypassengers. • Disengageblade(s)beforeshiftinginto reverse.Backup slowly. Alwayslookdownandbehindbeforeandwhile backingto avoida back-overaccident. 3 • Slowdownbeforeturning.Operatethe machinesmoothly.Avoid erraticoperationandexcessivespeed. Disengageblade(s),setparkingbrake,stopengineandwaituntil theblade(s)cometoa completestopbeforeremovinggrass catcher,emptyinggrass,uncloggingchute,removinganygrassor debris,or makinganyadjustments. Neverleavea runningmachineunattended.Alwaysturnoff blade(s),setparkingbrake,stopengineandremovekeybefore dismounting. Useextracare whenloadingorunloadingthe machineintoa trailerortruck.Thismachineshouldnotbedrivenupor down ramp(s),becausethe machinecouldtip over,causingserious personalinjury.The machinemustbe pushedmanuallyon ramp(s)to loador unloadproperly. Mufflerandenginebecomehotandcancausea burn.Donot touch. Checkoverheadclearancescarefullybeforedrivingunderlow hangingtree branches,wires,dooropeningsetc.,wherethe operatormaybestruckor pulledfromthemachine,whichcould resultinseriousinjury. Disengageallattachmentclutchesanddepressthe brakepedal completelybeforeattemptingto start engine. Yourmachineisdesignedto cutnormalresidentialgrassofa heightnomorethan10".Donotattemptto mowthroughunusually tall,dry grass(e.g.,pasture)orpiles of dry leaves.Drygrassor leavesmaycontactthe engineexhaustand/or builduponthe mowerdeckpresentinga potentialfirehazard. SLOPE OPERATION Slopesarea majorfactorrelatedtolossofcontrolandtip-over accidentswhichcanresultinsevereinjuryor death.Allslopesrequire extracaution.Ifyoucannotbackuptheslopeor ifyoufeeluneasyon it, do not mowit. Foryoursafety,usetheSlopeGuideincludedaspartofthis manual to measureslopesbeforeoperatingthis machineona slopedor hilly area.Iftheslopeisgreaterthan15degreesasshownonthe Slope Guide,do notoperatethis machineonthatareaor seriousinjurycould result. Do: o Mowupanddown slopes,not across.Exerciseextremecaution whenchangingdirectionon slopes. • Watchforholes,ruts,bumps,rocks,orotherhiddenobjects. Uneventerraincouldoverturnthe machine.Tallgrasscan hide obstacles. Useslowspeed.Choosea lowenoughspeedsettingsothat youwillnothavetostopor shiftwhileon theslope.Tiresmay losetractionon slopeseventhoughthe brakesarefunctioning properly.Alwayskeepmachinein gearwhen goingdownslopes to takeadvantageof enginebrakingaction. • Followthe manufacturer'srecommendationsfor wheelweights or counterweightsto improvestability.Forrecommendations,call 1-800-659-5917. • Useextracarewithgrasscatchersor otherattachments.These can changethe stabilityof the machine.
