AlwaysdisengagePTO,moveshift leverintoneutralposition,stop engineandremovekeyto preventunintendedstarting. If thetractordoesnotcometoacompletestopwhenthebrakepedal iscompletelydepressed,or ifthetractor'srearwheelscanrollwiththe parkingbrakeapplied,the brakeis in needof adjustment.Contactthe nearest SearsService Centerto haveyourbrakesproperlyadjusted. Tolocatethe nearest Parts& RepairServiceCenteror toschedule service,contact 1-800-4-MY-HOME®. CUTTING DECK REMOVAL To remove the cutting deck, proceed as follows: 1. Placethe PTO(Blade Engage)leverin the disengaged(OFF) positionandengagethe parkingbrake. 2. Lowerthe deck by movingthe deck lift lever intothe bottom notchon therightfender. 3. Removetheself-tappingscrew(A)thatsecuresthebelt-keeper rodfromaroundthetractor'sPTOpulley,thenremovethe belt keeperrod(B). SeeFig. 17. NOTE: Makeamentalnotewhatholetheotherendofthebelt-keeper rodisinsertedinfor reinstallationpurposes. 4. Connectthesecondcablenegative(-) tothenegativepost(-) of the jumperbattery. 4. Connecttheotherendof thenegativecabletotheengineblockof the tractor,awayfromthe battery.Attachto anunpaintedpartto assurea goodconnection. Ifthejumperbatteryis installedonavehicle(i.e.car,truck),doNOT startthe vehicle'senginewhenjump startingyourtractor. 5. Startthetractor(asinstructedearlierinthissectionofthis manual). 6. Set the tractor'sparkingbrakebeforeremovingthejumpercables, in reverseorderof connection.
