¦ Confirming a dial tone** When you register a number, you may have to confirm the dial tone in the middle of a facsimile number before entering the rest of the number. This is called dial tone detection. When dial tone detection is required, press [D.T.]; a small dot (.) appears on the LCD. **This feature is ineffective in the UK, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Malaysia. 2 PREPARING TO USE YOUR FAX 39 Registering the access type and the outside line access number _____________________________ When the fax is connected to a PBX or other telephone switching system, you can register the access type and outside access line number under the [R] button. Once you have registered them, you simply need to press [R] before dialling a fax or telephone number. PREPARING TO USE YOUR FAX 41 Using alternative telephone networks (UK only) The fax has a built-in feature that allows you to send documents and make telephone calls with an alternative long-distance service, such as the UK Call, Global Call, and Day Call Services of Cable and Wireless Communications Limited. If you subscribe to such a service, you can save money on most long-distance and international communications. The procedures described in this chapter show you how to use your fax with these Services of Cable and Wireless Communications Limited. For details on using your fax with alternative telephone services, contact your Canon authorised representative.
