The very first time you turn on the DVD player, the Ini- tial Setup menu appears onscreen. Here you need to make a few settings to get the DVD player up and running. You can change these settings later (see page 44). Note: •You can cancel the Initial Setup by pressing the Open/ Close [ ] button, and complete the settings later by using the onscreen setup menus (see page 44). Important: • Throughout this manual, the term DVD refers to DVD- Video, DVD-Audio, DVD-R/RW, and DVD+R/RW discs. When a function is specific to a particular type of DVD disc, it will be specified. Load a disc with the label side facing up, using the disc tray guide to align the disc (if you’re loading a double-sided DVD disc, load it with the side you want to play face down). Starting, Pausing & Stopping Playback ¦ Start To start playback, press the Play [] button. Playback starts and the Play indica- tor appears on the display. If you’re playing a DVD-Video disc, or a VCD with PBC (Playback Control), you may need to start playback from a menu (see page 31).
