After the dubbing is finished, the recorder rewinds the tape to the beginning. To stop during dubbing Press SYSTEM MENU. Note that it may take a few seconds for the recorder to stop dubbing. b • The recorder will pause dubbing when there is a blank space or an image containing copy protection signals or signals in a different colour system from that of the recorder on the tape. The recorder will resume dubbing automatically when receiving a recordable signal within 5 minutes. Otherwise, DV One-Touch Dubbing ends automatically. • DV One-Touch Dubbing ends automatically when the recorder cannot receive a recordable signal for 12 seconds at the beginning of the tape. • If the HDD camcorder is also connected to the USB jack, dubbing from the HDD camcorder starts when you press the ONE-TOUCH DUB button. Disconnect the HDD camcorder from the USB jack to dub from the DV camcorder. • When Timer recording is about to start during DV One-Touch Dubbing, a message appears. Follow the on-screen instructions. HDD/ DV Camcorder Dubbing ,continued Dubbing from DV camcorder using the on-screen display (DV Dubbing) Dubbing from DV camcorder using the on-screen display (DV Dubbing) You can select and dub scenes while playing a DV/Digital8 format tape. 1 Follow steps 1 to 3 of “Preparing for DV camcorder dubbing” on page 78. 2 Press SYSTEM MENU. The System Menu appears. 3 Select “HDD-Cam/DV,” and press . 4 Select “DV Dubbing,” and press . 5 Find the point on the DV/Digital8 format tape that you want to start dubbing from using m/M, etc., and press X. 6 Select “REC Start,” and press . The recorder starts dubbing. 7 Select “REC Pause,” and press . The recorder pauses dubbing. 8 Press N and repeat steps 5 to 7 to dub more scenes. 9 Select “REC Stop,” and press . The selected scenes are dubbed as a single title. Settings and Adjustments Settings and Adjustments Menus (Disc Setup) You can adjust HDD/DVD related settings. 1 Press SYSTEM MENU while the recorder is in stop mode or during playback. 2 Select “Disc Setup” using M/m, and press . 3 Select the desired setup item using M/m, and press . See the explanations in the following sections. Disc Settings (Disc Information) You can check the disc information and use the following functions. Example: When a DVD-RW (VR mode) is inserted. 1 “Disc Name” 2 “Used Space”/“Remain” (approximate): Displays used/ remaining time of the disc in current recording mode (example: SP mode). 3 “Disc Protection”: Displays whether protection is set. 4 “Disc Type” 5 “Format Type”: Displays the recording format. 6 Disc setting buttons Available settings differ depending on the disc type. “Finalise” (page 74)/“Unfinalise” (page 82) “Format”: Formats a disc. For DVD- RWs, select a recording format (VR mode or Video mode) (page 74). b For DVDs created on other DVD equipment, the “Disc Information” function may not be available. Settings and Adjustments ,continued Unfinalise Unfinalise For DVD-RWs (Video mode) DVD-RWs (Video mode) that have been finalised to prohibit additional dubbing can be unfinalised to allow further dubbing. For DVD-RWs (VR mode) If you cannot edit on a DVD-RW (VR mode) that has been finalised with other DVD equipment, unfinalise the disc. b The recorder may not unfinalise DVD-RWs (Video mode) that have been finalised on another recorder. 1 Select “Unfinalise,” and press . 2 Select “Yes,” and press . The recorder starts unfinalising the disc. Unfinalising may take several minutes. 3 Press SYSTEM MENU to exit. Formatting the HDD (HDD Formatting) You can check used/remaining space of the HDD and use the following functions. A “Used Space”/“Remain” (approximate): Displays used/ remaining time in current recording mode (example: DR mode) and used/ remaining space on the HDD. B HDD setting buttons “Erase”: Erases all titles (except protected titles) on the HDD. “Format”: Formats the HDD to resolve the problem when the hard disk error occurred. All of the recorded content on the HDD will be erased. Using the Setup Menus (Initial Setup) Using the Setup Menus (Initial Setup) 1 Press SYSTEM MENU while the recorder is in stop mode or during playback. 2 Select “Initial Setup” using M/m, and press . 3 Select the desired setup item using M/m, and press .
