The player saves all settings and unfinished recordings and switches off in less than 60 seconds. Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles. Battery life and number of charge cycles vary by use and settings. 3.5 Transfer music, pictures and text The player appears as a USB mass storage device in Windows Explorer. You can organize files and transfer music, picture and text files to your player during USB connection. Use Media Converter to transfer video files. See Media Converter for details. 1 Click and highlight one or more songs to transfer between the player and the computer. 2 Use drag and drop actions to complete your transfer. Tip To transfer music CDs to the player use software such as Windows Media Player, rip (convert) the songs on your music CD into MP3/WMA files. Copy the files into the digital audio player via Windows Explorer. Free versions of these programs can be downloaded from the internet. 3.6 Transfer videos Important Play DRM protected videos once in Windows Media Player on your PC, before you transfer them with MediaConverter. Use the media converter to convert the video files to the correct screen size and transfer videos from your PC to your player. This application will convert your video files to the right format and resolution before transferring them to your player so that they are guaranteed to playback on your player without any problems. 1 Use the supplied USB cable to connect your player to the PC. 2 Click on the icon on your desktop, to start the media converter. Note Video conversion and transfer is usually a long process and dependent on your PC configuration. 4 3 6 > All the converted files are transferred to the player. 3 In the option Convert to: at the bottom of the screen, select Current Device. 4 Press the Add Media button and locate the files on the PC. 5 Click OPEN to add the selected file. You can add multiple files. 6 Press Convert. > All the converted files will be transferred to the player. > The progress of conversion and transfer is shown. Note If needed, the files will first be converted to a format that can be played on the player. Tip You can also select the files in Windows Explorer and then drag and drop them into the MediaConverter screen. 3.7 Disconnect your player safely 1 Exit any active application working with your player. 2 Remove your player safely by clicking in the task tray shown in your PC. 3.8 Enjoy 3.8.1 Turn on and off To turn on, press y/2; until the display shows the Philips logo. To turn off, press and hold y/2; until the display shows ‘Bye’. Tip If the player is in stop mode and no button is pressed for 10 minutes, it switches off automatically. 3.8.2 Navigate the menu Your player has an intuitive menu navigation system to guide you through various settings and operations. Note This player does not support copy right protected (Digital Rights Management – DRM) WMA songs bought from the Internet. 4.1.3 Remove songs from a playlist 1 From the music menu , select Playlists. 2 Press 3/4, then 2; to select Remove from playlist. 3 Press 3/4, then 2; to select the track. > The track is removed from the playlist. 4.1.4 Limit the volume Listening to loud sounds for longer than a moment can be harmful to the listener.
