Wear goggles Wear ear muffs Wear a breathing mask Contents of carton • 1/2” Impact wrench • Kitbox • Instruction manual Assembly The GMC impact wrench is packed, fully assembled except for the impact socket. Please select the required impact socket and insert correctly (refer to the socket change section of this manual). Know your product 1. Drive Shank 2. Trigger Switch 3. Replaceable Brushes 4. Handle/Grip 5. Power Cord 3 1 2 4 5 Unpacking Due to modern mass production techniques, it is unlikely that your GMC Power Tool is faulty or that a part is missing. If you find anything wrong, do not operate the tool until the parts have been replaced or the fault has been rectified. Failure to do so could result in serious personal injury. Assembly Installing and Removing Sockets CAUTION. Always ensure that the impact wrench is switched off and the plug is removed from the power point before making any adjustments. Use only sockets designed for impact wrenches. Always select the correct size impact socket for nuts and bolts. Using the wrong size socket may damage the nut or bolt and cause the fastening torque to be inaccurate or inconsistent. 1. Unplug the wrench. 2. Select the required socket. 3. Firmly push the socket onto the drive shank until the hog ring locks it into place. 4. To remove the socket, pull it away from the drive shank. Operation Starting & stopping 1. Check the rating label on the impact wrench indicates 230V–240V. 2. Plug the cordset into the mains socket. 3. Squeeze the trigger switch (2) to start the impact wrench. 4. Release the trigger switch to stop the motor. CAUTION. Always maintain a tight control of the tool when switching on and off. Remember the motor will continue to run for a short time after switching off. Direction Of Rotation/Forward and Reverse The impact wrench has a rocker-type trigger switch for operating the wrench in forward or reverse. To operate the wrench in the forward direction, depress the lower half of the switch (2). To operate the wrench in reverse, depress the upper half of the switch. To stop the wrench, release the switch trigger and allow the motor to come to a complete stop. Reverse Forward Using the impact wrench The impact wrench can be used for driving nuts and bolts using an impact socket and is suitable for many DIY applications. Operating the Impact Wrench Correct fastening torque may be determined by the kind of bolt, the size of the bolt or the material of the workpiece. It is recommended that a test is performed prior to the final operation, in order to determine the fastening time for the nut or bolt you are using. When using the impact wrench follow the below procedure: 1. Hold the tool pointed straight at the nut or bolt. 2. Depress the switch and fasten for the fastening time. 3. After fastening, always check the torque with a torque wrench. Impact Time Many variables exist that will cause the available torque of the fastener to vary considerably. The optimum impact time is approximately 6 seconds. Note. Using an universal joint or extension bar may reduce the fastening force of the impact wrench and thus the application may require longer fastening time. WARNING. The machine and the tool attachments may become warm when being used for a long time. If this occurs turn the machine off and place it in a safe environment and allow to cool down. Do not attempt to touch the metal blades after prolonged application as they will be hot and may burn. Do not overload the machine and always allow it to cool between the individual work steps. WARNING. Wear safety goggles, a dust mask and ear defenders. WARNING. Do not use the impact wrench in wet or damp conditions. Trouble shooting Trouble Problem Suggested remedy Tool will not start Power cord not plugged in Ensure that the cord is connected to the power supply Power fault, fuse or circuit breaker tripped Check the power supply Cord damaged Use authorised service centre to repair or replace Faulty switch Use authorised service centre to repair or replace Faulty motor Use authorised service centre to repair or replace Carbon brush worn off Replace the carbon brush Poor performance Extension cord too long or undersized Use extension cord heavy enough to carry the current Visible spark Use authorised service centre to repair or replace Tool is overheating Short of lubricant Use authorised service centre to add lubricant Overtime running Turn off the tool and let it cool down to room temperature Maintenance WARNING. Always ensure that the tool is switched off and the plug is removed from the power point before making any adjustments or maintenance procedures. 1. Keep the tool’s air vents unclogged and clean at all times. 2. Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter has entered the grills near the motor and around the on/off switch. Use a soft brush to remove any accumulated dust. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes whilst cleaning....
